It’s Always Been About The Convenience Of Great Eateries

The matured residential suburb of Kuchai Lama along Old Klang Road is perhaps better known for its culinary landmarks. There’s the iconic Restoran Talipon BBQ Steamboat Buffet that championed all-you-can-eat steamboat cum BBQ. Fish head noodle staple Goon Wah sees patrons lapping up piping hot bowls for lunch despite the blistering afternoon heat. Then there’s also the standalone fast-food restaurant building KFC (cum Pizza Hut, at present) where much family time and after-school hours have been spent.

These icons still earn bragging rights for residents of say, a new Kuchai Lama condo, if you intend to be one!

Shopping Conveniences & Education Hubs

The older generation might remember Kuchai Lama for the cluster of factories – think Ajinomoto and Malaysia Packaging Industry Berhad (now being converted into one of two MRT stations in the area) as well as the former site for Aik Bee Sawmill where The Pearl Kuala Lumpur (formerly Pearl International Hotel) and Pearl Point Shopping Mall now stands. housing supermarket chain Jaya Grocer and Chinese restaurant Dynasty Paradise as anchor tenants.

Apart from the mall, residents of Happy Garden, Taman Goodwood, Taman Lian Hoe, Taman Continental, Taman Pagar Ruyong, Taman Kuchai Jaya, Taman Salak South and Taman Naga Emas are also spoilt for choice when it comes to food – restaurants, cafes and dessert outlets are aplenty at Kuchai Entrepreneurs Park. Besides being a stone’s throw away from Midvalley Megamall, Kuchai Lama dwellers can also enjoy the perks of 24-hour grocery shopping at the mammoth NSK Trade City.

The student population within the area has also grown tremendously with the relocation of SJK (C) La Salle from Brickfields in 2012 to neighbouring Sri Petaling, which also houses one of the nation’s top private medical schools, the International Medical University.

The Accessibilities

Located 8km from KL city centre, Kuchai Lama is also linked to several major expressways, namely Maju Expressway, Sungai Besi Expressway, Shah Alam Expressway (KESAS), New Pantai Expressway, SMART Tunnel and the Federal Highway.

As a result, prices of residential properties in the area have steadily risen throughout the years. In an age of mass connectivity, city folks are constantly looking to cut down commuting time by carefully selecting where they choose to live and sticking to the proven property-buying mantra of “location, location, location”.

Indeed, this suburb seems to be waking up from its slumber to a flurry of infrastructural upgrades ready to welcome a whole new generation of urban go-getters!
